The Orientation for Staff Working in Licensed Child Care Facilities is a non-credit course that reviews aspects of early childhood development and the role of child care staff. The course is delivered online and is funded by the Government of Nova Scotia.

The orientation consists of 16 sessions covering a range of topics such as observation, providing for play, and guiding behavior as these ideas relate to working with young children in a regulated child care setting.

The Government of Nova Scotia has legislated training requirements for child care staff. Staff working directly with children who do not meet the legislated training requirements must complete the orientation within a year of their date of employment.
